Rydges Auckland implements Vistagate
Rydges Hotel, Auckland has completed the first phase of a new high-speed broadband internet service for guests.
Vistagate International Ltd won approval for providing the service, with its innovative, New Zealand-developed internet management system designed specifically for hotels.
As well as providing the software solution and network equipment, Vistagate worked with Rydges to design in-room marketing and log-in pages to ensure a smooth professional service for guests.
Each guest room now has a broadband network connection and a deskhub with retractable cable, as well as existing dial-up internet access.
The solution enables guests to log onto the internet by accepting the terms and conditions of the log-in page. The system bills guest room accounts $29.95 for 24-hour access and allocates a generous 100 MB of internet traffic, with excess charging for additional traffic.
High-speed internet access has also been installed in all Rydges Auckland conference areas to provide an internet solution for single users or larger office networks.
Internet is delivered on the TelstraClear fibre optic network which takes advantage of the state of the art fibre backbone of the TelstraClear network. The access is scalable, allowing Rydges to increase bandwidth as and when needed to provide the best possible connectivity to its guests.
The second phase of the project, which is due for completion in June 2005, includes a seamless wireless network throughout the hotel’s public areas.
